Bonner Jazzchor and Lyt release "Saint Cecilia" together

On November 22nd 2020 Lyt (DK) and Bonner Jazzchor (DE) release a new single and video together. The release date is no coincidence: It is the day of Saint Cecilia – the patron saint of music and musicians.

2020 has turned out to be a year we will never forget. We live our lives at a certain distance and some might long for the beauty of togetherness. So, how else can we meet to express our emotions and experiences? The perfect solution is through the arts and music!

Kajsa Vala’s beautiful song “Saint Cecilia” comes in the shape of a prayer. Bonner Jazzchor and Lyt have taken up the song’s urgent energy and – with the help of Tine Fris-Ronsfeld’s wonderful arrangement – transformed it into a sublime musical offering. With voices merging across geographical and digital borders, the both choirs join together, singing for Saint Cecilia to watch over all of us in these challenging times and send us her blessed light.

Lyt is a mixed Danish a cappella choir of 35 singers based in Aarhus (DK). The name of the choir is Danish and means “listen”, and this is exactly what it is all about. Singing together and making the stories stand out so everyone can listen and feel the music vibrate with every fiber of the body. The repertoire focus on new interpretations of modern Scandinavian pop songs and the tone is bright and warmhearted like a Danish summer night. Lyt has performed on stage with artists such as Tina Dickow, Thomas Buttenschön, Kajsa Vala, Martin Baltzer and In Lonely Majesty and toured in Denmark and Germany. In the Spring of 2020, Lyt was nominated for an AVA award for their video of “Winter”. Lyt is conducted by Tine Fris-Ronsfeld.
